The Supporting Cast A Comedy in Two Acts by George Furth
The Supporting Cast was first on Broadway in 1981 Starring Hope Lange as Ellen, the wife of a successful author. As the play opens we learn that Ellen has written a novel about the important part others play in support of famous people. The characters in her book are based on several of her close friends who are all married to famous people. The book has been printed and is about to be released. The problem is Ellen neglected to get signed releases from her friends. This must be done before the book can be released for sale. Innocently, she invites her friends to a party at her California beach front home. She thinks it will be easy to get them to sign the documents. Well... she was wrong! They are all very concerned about haw they are portrayed in the book. There is loads of witty dialogue, some embarrassing moments and a few surprises. It promises to be a very enjoyable show for the Ridgedale audiences.
